Indian sales outfit Indywood Distribution Network has made a wide sale of Rupesh Paul’s film “Kamasutra – The Revenge” ahead of Hong Kong’s film rights market, FilMart. The film, starring Sherlyn Chopra, Milind Gunaji, and Gajendra Chauhan, and produced by San2Creations, tells the story of two princesses. One princess is forced into a marriage with a middle-aged king, while the other seeks revenge.

Indywood Distribution Network has successfully sold the film to various international distributors, including Twin in Japan (all rights), A2 Filmes in Latin America (TV/VOD), Filmbridge in Mongolia (all rights), Pioneer Film in the Philippines (all rights), and RFT Films in the U.K./Ireland (theatrical).

Aside from “Kamasutra – The Revenge,” Indywood has an impressive lineup for FilMart, including the Sri Lankan film “Paradise.” The movie, directed by Prasanna Vithanage, won the Kim Jiseok award at Busan 2023 and received four nominations at the Asian Film Awards. Produced by Newton Cinema and starring Roshan Mathew, Darshana Rajendran, and Shyam Fernando, “Paradise” follows an Indian tourist couple who face unexpected challenges during their fifth wedding anniversary celebration in crisis-ridden Sri Lanka, leading to revelations and strains in their relationship.

Newton Cinema also brings “Family,” a title from Rotterdam 2023, directed by Don Palathara. The film explores the clash of family values and customs when a respected mentor reveals his evil nature, causing disruption and false normalcy in a village. The cast includes Vinay Forrt, Nilja K. Baby, and Divya Prabha.

“Blessy’s The Goat Life” is another remarkable film in Indywood’s FilMart slate. The story revolves around an Indian migrant worker, Najeeb Muhammad, who unexpectedly finds himself living as a slave-like figure, herding goats in the middle of the Saudi Arabian desert. The movie, produced by Alta Global Media, Image Makers, and Jet Media Productions, features an outstanding cast led by Prithviraj Sukumaran, Jimmy Jean-Louis, and Amala Paul. The score is composed by Oscar winner A.R. Rahman.

Lijo Jose Pellissery’s “Malaikottai Vaaliban” is a captivating film that transcends time and geographies as it follows the journey of an undisputed warrior who triumphs over every opponent he encounters. The cast includes Malayalam-language cinema superstar Mohanlal, Sonalee Kulkarni, and Hareesh Peradi. It is produced by John & Mary Creative, Century Films, and Maxlab Cinemas & Entertainment.

“Amar Colony” by Siddharth Chauhan, winner of the special jury award at Tallinn Black Nights 2022, is another must-watch film. Produced by Goopy Bagha Productions Limited and Indie Film Collective, the movie stars Sangeeta Agrawal, Nimisha Nair, and Usha Chauhan and tells three tales set in the titular colony. These stories revolve around a crippled widow fighting for respect for her beloved pigeon, a pregnant woman finding solace in a tomato, and a religious devotee battling paranoia with a mace.

Jude Anthany Joseph’s “2018” is a disaster film set during the 2018 Kerala floods. It was India’s entry for the international category at the 2024 Oscars. With an impressive cast including Tovino Thomas, Kunchacko Boban, and Asif Ali, the film was produced by Kavya Film Company, Anto Joseph Film Company, and P.K. Prime Production.

Indywood’s FilMart slate also includes two canine-themed films. “777 Charlie,” directed by Kiranraj K, is a 2022 box office hit that tells the story of Dharma, whose negative and lonely lifestyle changes when a pup named Charlie enters his life. Produced by Paramvah Studios, the film features Rakshit Shetty, Charlie, and Sangeetha Sringeri. Devan’s “Valatty” is a heartwarming love story between two dogs, Tomy and Amalu, whose owners have religious differences. The dogs decide to elope. The cast includes Vijay Babu, Raghu Subhash Chandran, and Indrans. “Valatty” is produced by Friday Film House.

“Babitha Mathew and Rinn’s Pyali” is a touching story about the compassion between two young siblings as they overcome obstacles in life. Produced by NF Varghese Pictures, the film stars Barbiee Sharma, George Jacob, and Arjun.
