Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou made it clear that he would not entertain any questions about Eric Dier’s absence from the Spurs squad. Despite rumors suggesting that Dier has agreed personal terms with Bayern Munich, Postecoglou insisted that the defender’s absence was due to injury and nothing else.
During a post-match press conference, when asked if Dier was injured, Postecoglou replied curtly, “Yeah, he’s injured.” When pressed further about the nature of the injury, he stated, “He just pulled up sore in training yesterday.”
When questioned about the links between Dier and Bayern Munich, Postecoglou’s response was firm, “Separate issue mate, but don’t question my integrity. When I say he’s injured, he’s injured. Didn’t train yesterday. Ask him. When I say he’s injured, he’s injured. Got nothing to do with anything else.”
Undeterred, the reporter persisted and asked again about the Bayern links, to which Postecoglou replied, “I got no idea. I’ve got no interest. But when you ask me whether he’s injured… He’s injured, like I did not make that up. If he wasn’t injured, I’d say he’s not selected, it’s easy for me to say. Now in terms of anything else that’s happening? Not on my radar, not that I’ve heard of, and if there is something, I’m sure I’ll hear of it.”
It has been reported that Dier has already agreed personal terms with Bayern Munich, and Tottenham could receive around £4 million for the defender. The final decision regarding the transfer rests with Bayern Munich. However, Postecoglou remains confident that he can afford to let Dier go, especially with negotiations ongoing for the potential signing of Radu Dragusin from Genoa to replace him in the squad.
Tottenham is also in advanced talks to sign Timo Werner from RB Leipzig, with the former Chelsea striker expected to finalize a deal to join the club in the near future.
While the transfer speculation continues, Postecoglou remains focused on the team and maintaining the integrity of his decisions. Only time will tell how the situation unfolds, but for now, the Tottenham boss stands firm in his stance regarding Dier’s absence and any potential transfer activities.
