Pauly Shore’s hilarious portrayal of Richard Simmons is finally making its way to the spotlight. Just days after the announcement of a feature film biopic, a 10-minute short film called “The Court Jester,” starring Shore, premiered at the Cabin in Park City. Although it isn’t an official Sundance Film Festival screening, the event was strategically positioned to draw in festival-goers.
A Sneak Peek into “The Court Jester”
“The Court Jester” can now be enjoyed online through the Lewis Brothers’ YouTube channel. The film, directed by Jake Lewis, who gained fame for his viral Robin Williams impersonation, features Jesse Heiman, best known as an extra in movies like “Spider-Man,” “Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” and “The Social Network.” Heiman plays a segment producer who ends up working with Simmons amidst behind-the-scenes drama at a talk show.
Pauly Shore’s Excitement and Richard Simmons’ Disavowal
Shore expressed his excitement about sharing Richard Simmons’ life with the world, saying, “We all need this biopic now more than ever.” Simmons, known for representing mental health and inspiring others to get in shape, always brought joy and authenticity to his appearances. However, Simmons has disavowed the project, stating on Facebook that he never gave permission for the movie and now leads a quiet, peaceful life without a manager or publicist.
The Future of the Richard Simmons Feature Film
While we wait for the untitled Richard Simmons feature film starring Pauly Shore, produced by The Wolper Organization, a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Casting, it’s important to note that “The Court Jester” is a separate project and not affiliated with Wolper. Despite Simmons’ disapproval, the short film offers a unique glimpse into the world of Richard Simmons.
