In her video, Teia (@mommateia) explained that she was initially skeptical of the trick.

The Instagrammer said that she “literally rolled [her] eyes” when she first heard about the technique.

However, after trying it out she confirmed it works and now she even swears by it.

“By golly, it works if you’ll stop being stubborn and just try it,” she told her followers.

Teia revealed that every night before she and her husband go to bed they carry out a closing procedure in their home.

She explained that by treating their kitchen like a closing shift at a restaurant, the couple ensured that everything is clean and ready for use in the morning.

The closing checklist includes cleaning the counters, running the dishwasher, and ensuring there is no mess or clutter left behind.

Teia pointed out that the kitchen is the first room her family enters in the morning and she wanted to start the day on the right foot.

She added that the kitchen being clean and prepped every day has “drastically increased our mood.”

The couple used a sped-up video to show their audience their nightly routine.

As well as wiping down their counters, their tasks included wrapping up any leftover food and vacuuming the floor.

Teia pointed out that the concept is similar to making your bed every morning.

Both tasks mean your future self will be faced with less work and feel more prepared.

“Our life got so much easier when we did this one thing,” Teia told her viewers.

Her followers shared their thoughts on the advice in the comments section.

Cleaning tips to elevate your home

Realtor Stephanie Booth shared her go-to cleaning tips with The U.S. Sun.

  • Use dish soap and baking soda to scrub your stovetop and kitchen cabinets.
  • Clean your carpets, dishwasher, and under appliances as soon as you move in.
  • Make a crockpot potpourri of sliced lemons, vanilla, a sprig of rosemary, and two cups of water.
  • Fluff your pillows but don’t worry about karate-chopping them.

“Yep! I’ve done this on a daily basis for years!” wrote one Instagram user.

“I also do the entire house before going on vacation so we all come home to a clean, refreshing home instead of opening the door to a home full of housework after relaxing for a week.”

“I’ve been doing both things for a long time,” said another viewer.

“I hate to wake up to a messy kitchen and I hate to come back to an unmade bed.”

“Yes, it’s so good and rewarding to wake up to a clean kitchen,” commented a third person.

“I feel like I can jump right into starting my day instead of having to clean up the mess from the night before.”
