The Redditor explained that when it came to their decor philosophy they preferred to keep things as minimalist as possible.

“Get rid of all the clutter – all those things you tell yourself that you need that you really don’t. That’s probably my #1 advice,” they wrote.

After sufficiently clearing up space by getting rid of unwanted items, a buy helped them organize the stuff that mattered.

“One of the best things I did for my small apartment was to get a baker’s rack,” they revealed.

The organizing island helped them store various pots, pans, and other kitchen necessities in one place all while keeping them at arm’s length.

In a small space, they added that the storage unit made a dramatic difference.

“My kitchen is tiny and there’s only enough cabinet space for either food or dishes so having extra space really helped prevent some of the kitchen clutter,” they explained.

On top of the functional purchase, a few cleaning habits kept their home in tip-top shape.

“Cleaning once a week is a must for me. Not the entire apartment at once but at least focusing on one room,” they explained.

Not only did tidying up improve the look of a space but it also came with additional productive benefits.

“I feel like I am more motivated to be organized if the space looks nice,” they said.

For those who struggled with keeping their home clean, they explained breaking the issue down into incremental steps was key.

“Try to figure out what your ‘problem spaces’ are and how to defeat them,” they said.

“Maybe it means reorganizing, getting more storage furniture, or getting rid of things altogether.”

Many people, they explained, had more possessions than they knew what to do with.

“Figure out what you really need right now and what you don’t and dispose of those things in the best possible way,” they said.

“You can sell a lot of home goods on Facebook Marketplace and people are pretty responsive.

“Or donate and write that off for your taxes next year. Whatever works best for you.”
