ABC’s hit show, “Golden Wedding,” delivered an extraordinary performance as fans eagerly gathered to witness the network’s first-ever Golden bachelor, Gerry Turner, tie the knot with Theresa Nist. The Thursday night broadcast captivated an impressive audience of 5.22 million viewers and achieved a .63 rating among the key adult 18-49 demographic, according to Nielsen’s National Live+Same Day data. It’s worth noting that the majority of the show’s viewership came from linear and streaming delayed-viewing, so these numbers are expected to change once the multiplatform+7 day data becomes available at a later date.
In comparison, the season finale of the show, which aired on November 30, attracted 6.1 million viewers, setting a record as the most-watched episode in the entire “Bachelor” franchise since Matt James’ season concluded in 2021.
The wedding ceremony took place at the La Quinta Resort and Club in La Quinta, Calif., with contestant Susan Noles officiating the proceedings. Amidst the romantic ambiance, Gerry Turner poured out his heart in his vows, saying, “When I think of all the decisions we made here to be in this position tonight, I know the hand of God and the winds of fate have ordained this moment. From our first sip of chocolate shake to the last taste of Costa Rican coffee, I have learned that you are the woman I can’t live without.”
Theresa, visibly moved by Gerry’s heartfelt words, couldn’t contain her joy. “You were authentic. Theresa, you have my heart, and I have yours,” Gerry concluded, sealing their commitment.
Throughout the fall season, “Golden Wedding” garnered an average of 4.83 million viewers and a .60 rating among the key demographic. Notably, this wedding episode surpassed the show’s fall average by 8% in total viewers and 5% in the key demographic. The series made an impressive debut last September, becoming the biggest premiere in the “Bachelor” franchise since 2021, with 4.4 million viewers. While initial viewership slightly declined in the following weeks, it soon gained momentum, with later episodes reaching 4.1 million, 4.4 million, 4.8 million, 4.9 million, and 5.3 million viewers, respectively.
Additionally, on social media, “Golden Wedding” generated more interactions than the season finale of “The Golden Bachelor,” with 166,500 impressions compared to 155,000.
