Three devoted Kansas City Chiefs fans were tragically discovered dead outside a home in Missouri just a fortnight ago, as reported by both the police and a relative.
A Deadly Outcome
According to a family member, the three men had gathered at a residence on Kansas City’s 5200 block NW 83rd Terrace on January 7th to enjoy the thrilling playoffs matchup between the Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers. However, two days later, the fiancée of one of the men grew concerned and decided to visit the house in search of her partner. Alarmed by what she found, she immediately contacted the authorities, who confirmed the presence of a lifeless body on the back porch.
A Heartbreaking Discovery
Upon further investigation, the Kansas City Police Department made a grim revelation. The bodies of two other men had been located in the backyard. The victims were identified as Ricky Johnson, 38, Clayton McGeeney, 36, and David Harrington, 37. Meanwhile, authorities have stated that there were no apparent signs of foul play near or at the scene where the bodies were found. As it stands, no arrests have been made in connection with the deaths.
Coping with Loss
In an attempt to raise funds for funeral expenses, a GoFundMe campaign was set up to commemorate Ricky Johnson. Described as a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, Johnson’s passing will undoubtedly leave a void in the lives of those who knew and loved him. Stephanie Walling, Johnson’s niece, who initiated the fundraising effort, hopes that it will also provide support for the three daughters he left behind.
“It’s just really hard because I know his girls meant the world to him, and he had really big plans for them,” expressed a tearful Walling to NBC News. “Now, he won’t get to follow through with those plans.” She fondly remembers her uncle, who was ten years older than her, as a “gentle giant” and an incredibly caring individual. Walling also noted that he had an unwavering devotion to the Kansas City Chiefs, making him the biggest fan she knew.
Seeking Answers
Johnson’s untimely passing has left the entire family yearning for answers. Walling reveals that the news is devastating, stating, “It’s devastating because I just want to know what happened, I just want to know how things went down.” The pain of the unknown will surely linger for Walling and her family. She hopes to bring attention to the situation in order to find solace and closure. With so many questions unanswered, Walling emphasizes the necessity of shedding light on this tragic event.
The Kansas City Police Department has acknowledged the cooperation of the homeowner, who remains unnamed, during their inquiries on the day the bodies were discovered. The investigation into the cause of death for all three men is still in progress, and updates from the medical examiner are awaited.
