Ecuador-based 2bLatam and Mexican media and entertainment indie Elefantec Global are joining forces to develop content based on the popular Spanish-language comedy channel, Enchufe.tv. With over 70 million subscribers on social media and more than 27 million on YouTube, Enchufe.tv is the largest Spanish-language comedy channel worldwide.
Expanding Enchufe.tv’s Humor to the Big Screen
The strategic partnership aims to bring Enchufe.tv’s unique humor to the big screen, starting with a project centered around one of the channel’s iconic characters. Although no further details have been announced yet, fans can expect an adaptation full of laughter and entertainment.
Adapting Enchufe.tv’s Humor to Mexican Sensibilities
Apart from the big-screen adaptation, the partners are also collaborating on a Mexican version of some of Enchufe.tv’s sketches. By adapting the humor to Mexican sensibilities, they aim to resonate with a wider audience and expand Enchufe.tv’s reach even further.
“We produce our films in parallel with a marketing strategy within the channel, leveraging our knowledge and experience in digital campaigns and content creators,” said Arturo Yépez, CEO of 2bLatam. The new partnership seeks to expand Enchufe.tv’s audience in cinemas and on additional digital platforms.
Bridging Entertainment and Humor Globally
Bastian Manintveld, president and co-founder of the 2btube group, expressed excitement about the collaboration, saying, “Having such strong allies in the industry allows us to go beyond and bring our content and unique voice to large audiences globally. This is something especially relevant considering the positive impact of entertainment and humor on our society.”
Jose “Pepe” Bastón, founder of Elefantec Global, echoed the sentiment, stating, “We are proud to collaborate with the talented Enchufe.tv team in developing and expanding content and characters that have made millions of people laugh in Latin America.”
From YouTube Phenomenon to Premium TV
Enchufe.tv’s success extends beyond YouTube. Last April, a partnership was formed between 2bLatam and Edward James Olmos to create an English-language premium TV version of their YouTube hit, “Mortal Glitch.” This marked the Ecuadorian company’s first English-language project.
“Mortal Glitch” is the only fiction series produced in Latin America for YouTube Premium to date. With millions of views in Mexico, Colombia, and Argentina, the web series has crossed borders and gained international recognition.
2bLatam’s production arm, 2bOriginals, produced “Mortal Glitch.” The series was written and directed by Christian Moya, a partner at 2bLatam.
