The giant media conglomerate Globo from Brazil and Spain’s Atresmedia International have recently extended their strategic partnership for another five years. Under this agreement, Atresmedia will continue to deliver Globo telenovelas, series, and mini-series to Latin America and the U.S. Hispanic market.

Since the launch of this collaboration five years ago, Globo’s content has received a warm reception from audiences of Atreseries and Atresplayer. Globo’s productions, which total around 500 hours per year, have consistently ranked high in audience ratings and have complemented Atresmedia’s original offerings.

Mar Martínez-Raposo, director of Atresmedia International, stated, “We have witnessed how well the audience of Atreseries and Atresplayer welcomed Globo’s content. Our viewers have embraced Globo’s shows, which have become an integral part of our programming.”

Key Brazilian productions, including “A Life to Die For,” “Doomed,” “The Hunter,” “Time After Time,” and “Ambitious Women,” are among the exclusive premieres on Atreseries and Atresplayer. These shows have attracted diverse audiences and have contributed to the success of both companies.

Regiane Marcílio, Globo’s Head of Content Distribution & Partnerships, expressed her delight in continuing this collaboration. She emphasized the importance of reaching new audiences and acknowledged that the renewal of the partnership reflects the positive response Globo’s content has received.

Last year, Atresmedia International reported a significant growth in subscriptions, with a jump of 7.6 million. The company’s overall reach now extends to over 65 million households globally, including Latin America, the U.S., Canada, and Europe. Martínez-Raposo attributed this growth to the strength of their channels, noting that it was achieved despite challenging market conditions.

Atresmedia also credits part of its subscription growth to a deal it struck with YouTube TV in the U.S. The agreement allowed Antena 3 content to be available in two tiers since May, namely Spanish Plan and Spanish Plus.

Globo, as the largest media conglomerate in Latin America, encompasses free-to-air TV and pay TV channels, as well as digital products and services. One of its notable offerings is Globoplay, the largest Brazilian streaming platform.

Within Brazil alone, Globo reaches up to 80 million people daily. Internationally, its Emmy international-winning programming content is available in over 160 territories and has been dubbed into 70 languages.

The partnership renewal between Globo and Atresmedia demonstrates their commitment to providing quality content to audiences across Latin America and the U.S. Hispanic market.
