Slow Horses

Gary Oldman’s gang of MI5 misfits is returning for a new adventure. The popular Apple TV+ series, “Slow Horses,” based on Mick Herron’s spy novels, has been renewed for a fifth season, according to Variety.

In the show, Oldman delivers a Golden Globe-nominated performance as the irascible spook, Jackson Lamb. He will be joined by Kristin Scott Thomas as MI5 second desk Diana Taverner, Jack Lowden as espionage nepo baby River Cartwright, and Christopher Chung as the cocky geek Roddy Ho.

The logline for Season 5 reads, “Everyone is suspicious when resident tech nerd Roddy Ho has a glamorous new girlfriend, but when a series of increasingly bizarre events occur across the city, it falls to the Slow Horses to work out how everything is connected. After all, Jackson Lamb knows that in the world of espionage, ‘London Rules’ should always apply.”

The upcoming season will be adapted from Mick Herron’s fifth book in the series, “London Rules.” While the director is yet to be confirmed, fans can expect the same darkly comic espionage drama that has captivated audiences since its premiere in 2022.

“Slow Horses” follows a dysfunctional team of British intelligence agents who have been sidelined to Slough House due to various career-ending reasons. Described as the Slow Horses, this ragtag group, led by the disheveled and flatulent Lamb, finds themselves manipulated by their polished counterparts at Regents Park, yet still manages to save the day.

The nail-biting Season 3 finale left viewers on the edge of their seats, and anticipation is high for what Season 5 has in store. Fans will have to wait for further announcements regarding the release date and director.

“Slow Horses” is adapted for television by Will Smith and produced by See-Saw Films for Apple TV+. With an impressive lineup of executive producers, including Will Smith, Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Douglas Urbanski, Gail Mutrux, Julian Stevens, and Graham Yost, it’s no wonder the show has become one of Apple TV+’s most popular series.
