Joe Rogan, the king of podcasting and a multimillionaire, has something special for his fans. In an exciting announcement, Spotify revealed a multiyear deal renewal with Rogan, the host of the industry’s top podcast, “The Joe Rogan Experience.” Under the new agreement, worth up to $250 million, the podcast will no longer be exclusive to Spotify but will be widely distributed by the platform, which will also handle ad sales.
But that’s not all. Alongside the renewal announcement, Rogan shared a Spotify playlist called the “Green Room playlist,” featuring hype songs that he has curated over the years to get in the mood for a show. The playlist currently consists of 221 tracks, totaling a whopping 15 hours and 16 minutes.
This playlist is a musical potpourri, spanning various genres such as classic rock, country, hip-hop, and blues. It includes tracks from legendary artists like Run the Jewels, The Black Keys, Janis Joplin, The Rolling Stones, Nas, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bob Dylan, AC/DC, 50 Cent, Liz Phair, and Kanye West. In an interview, Rogan mentioned that many of these songs were recommended by his fellow comedians, while others were discovered through Spotify’s suggestions.
Interestingly, Rogan drew inspiration for the Green Room playlist from Dave Chappelle, who used to bring a Bluetooth speaker with him to the Comedy Store, setting the vibe with his excellent taste in music. Rogan loved how music could enhance the conversations and change the atmosphere of the green room. Following Chappelle’s lead, Rogan began playing his pre-show playlist randomly, sometimes starting from the last song or letting his finger land anywhere on the scroll. The result is a playlist that seamlessly transitions from Die Antwoord to Nina Simone and from Wu-Tang Clan to Led Zeppelin.
Spotify has witnessed a positive effect when popular podcasters feature music or artists on their shows. For example, with Alex Cooper’s “Call Her Daddy” podcast, song streams of music guests have doubled or even quadrupled within just 48 hours after appearing on the show. Naturally, Spotify hopes that millions of “The Joe Rogan Experience” listeners will also jump on board to enjoy Rogan’s Green Room playlist.
Rogan shared that if he had to pick one song to get the party started, it would be KC & The Sunshine Band’s “I’m Your Boogie Man.” According to him, it’s the perfect song to listen to while walking into a sold-out arena green room, setting the mood just right.

It’s worth noting that Rogan’s playlist does not include any songs by Neil Young. Young was among the artists who pulled their music from Spotify in early 2022 due to Rogan’s controversial statements about the COVID vaccines on his podcast. As a result, Young’s recordings remain unavailable on the streaming platform.
In the same interview, Rogan confessed that when he first started podcasting, he was not particularly adept at it. He admitted to not knowing when to listen and make someone comfortable in order to draw out the best perspectives. However, he has since learned to assist the flow of the conversation and be fully present and engaged with what the other person is saying.
So, if you’re a fan of “The Joe Rogan Experience” or just looking for an epic playlist to get you in the zone, check out Joe Rogan’s Green Room playlist on Spotify. Get ready for an immersive musical experience that reflects the eclectic taste of one of the world’s most popular podcasters.
