London Critics' Circle Awards

Jonathan Glazer’s powerful film “The Zone of Interest” and Andrew Haigh’s captivating drama “All of Us Strangers” emerged as big winners at the 44th annual London Critics’ Circle Awards. Each film secured three awards, showcasing their excellence and impact.

Celebrating Outstanding Achievements

“The Zone of Interest,” a German-language film, was crowned Film of the Year, showcasing its compelling storytelling and remarkable direction. It also triumphed in the technical category for its outstanding music and sound. Meanwhile, “All of Us Strangers” was recognized as the best British/Irish film of the year, with Andrew Scott winning the prestigious Actor of the Year award for his outstanding performance. Co-star Paul Mescal was acknowledged as the British/Irish Performer of the Year, recognizing his remarkable body of work in 2023.

Notable Winners and Acceptances

Emma Stone secured the title of Actress of the Year for her captivating portrayal in “Poor Things.” Da’Vine Joy Randolph and Charles Melton were honored with Supporting Performance awards for their impressive roles in “The Holdovers” and “May December,” respectively.

The screenwriter award went to Justine Triet and Arthur Harari for their remarkable work on “Anatomy of a Fall,” while Mstyslav Chernov received the Documentary of the Year prize for “20 Days in Mariupol.” Jeffrey Wright was presented with the prestigious Dilys Powell Award for excellence in film.

Recognizing New Talent

The London Critics’ Circle Awards also celebrated breakthrough talent, as Mia McKenna-Bruce received the inaugural International Breakthrough Performance award for her remarkable performance in “How to Have Sex.” The film’s writer-director, Molly Manning Walker, was honored with the Philip French Award for British/Irish Breakthrough Filmmaker.

Colman Domingo was presented with the Derek Malcolm Award for innovation, a well-deserved recognition for his contributions to the world of cinema. Celine Song’s “Past Lives” was named Foreign-Language Film of the Year, while Miyazaki Hayao’s enchanting work “The Boy and the Heron” won the Best Animated Film award.
