A bargain hunter has been left totally stunned after her recent online order from Asda

A recent online shopping experience has left one woman in complete disbelief, prompting her to call her local Asda a “rip-off.” Emma Carter, a mother of five, was shocked by the prices of everyday items in her online order, including meat, cheese, sun cream, and toilet rolls. As a result, she has decided to take her grocery shopping to Morrisons and Farmfoods in an effort to save some money.

Emma’s shopping totalled £82, with £5 being for delivery. She expressed her shock, saying, “£82? Is this an absolute joke? I’m shocked.” She took to TikTok to share her frustration, quickly racking up an impressive 464,200 views.

However, some TikTok users pointed out that the high cost of Emma’s shopping may be due to the branded items she purchased, such as Nivea and Piz Buin sun creams. Despite this, Emma branded Asda a “rip-off” and declared that she would no longer be shopping there.

While some social media users sympathized with Emma’s situation and shared their own negative experiences with Asda, others disagreed, suggesting that opting for non-branded items could save money. One user mentioned, “If you buy Asda’s own brand, it’s so much cheaper.”

It’s worth noting that Asda has been named the cheapest supermarket in the UK by Which?, except for one month, when it was not. In a study comparing the prices of the UK’s eight largest supermarkets, Asda consistently came out as the cheapest for bigger trolleys of goods, including both branded and own-brand items.

Regardless, many shoppers could relate to Emma’s frustration and offered their support. One person mentioned switching to Tesco, saying, “Asda’s a joke now!” Another shared, “I usually go to Aldi. Went to Asda for a few bits. Christ, so expensive.”

Emma’s decision to shop at Morrisons and Farmfoods instead of Asda reflects her dissatisfaction with the prices. She explained, “Asda is about 20 minutes from me. Always went there for years, used to get loads for £100 and had five kids then. Only have three [kids] now, so [I’ve] done Morrisons and Farmfoods.”

While Emma’s experience may have been disappointing, it’s essential to remember that different supermarkets cater to different budgets and preferences. Finding the right store that suits your needs and offers value for money is crucial for a successful shopping experience.
