You better prepare yourself for an intense horror movie experience! David F. Sandberg, the brilliant mind behind “Annabelle: Creation,” “Shazam!,” and “Lights Out,” is bringing the chilling PlayStation video game “Until Dawn” to the big screen. With Screen Gems and PlayStation Productions teaming up, this adaptation is bound to make you scream!

A Love Letter to the Horror Genre

Gary Dauberman, the talented screenwriter known for “It: Chapter Two” and “The Nun,” is working on the script alongside Blair Butler, the writer of “The Invitation.” The plot is still a mystery, but we can expect an R-rated and terrifying love letter to the horror genre. Brace yourself for a wild ride!

From the Game Console to the Silver Screen

“Until Dawn” revolves around eight friends trapped on a remote mountain retreat. As they soon realize, they are not alone. With fear and dread lurking in every corner, they must survive the night to see the dawn. The game, which featured motion-capture versions of Rami Malek and Hayden Panettiere, was hailed by Variety as one of the games deserving a movie adaptation in 2021.

A Stellar Production Team

Under his first look deal with Screen Gems and Sony, Dauberman is producing the film through his Coin Operated banner. Joining him are Sandberg and Lotta Losten from Mångata, as well as Roy Lee from Vertigo Entertainment and Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan from PlayStation Productions. This powerhouse team will undoubtedly bring the terrifying world of “Until Dawn” to life on the silver screen.

“As our partnership with Sony Pictures continues to grow, we’re thrilled to be working on our first movie with Screen Gems. Until Dawn is a fan favorite PlayStation game that we can’t wait to bring to the big screen,” said Qizilbash, head of PlayStation Productions.
