Lewis “Lew” Rothman, a veteran entertainment executive, passed away suddenly at his home in East Hampton on December 22, leaving behind a legacy of remarkable achievements. A Remarkable Career in the Entertainment Industry
Lew Rothman had an illustrious career, holding prominent positions at the Weinstein Company and Strategy PR. His tenure at the Weinstein Company, where he served as the chief technology officer, spanned a decade, during which he played a crucial role in the success of movies like “The King’s Speech” and “The Artist.” In 2016, he joined Strategy, one of the leading awards consultancy firms. But Rothman’s contributions to the industry go even further back in time.
In the early 1990s, Rothman, together with his wife Serina Mayer, founded Vibemaster, Inc., a new media consultancy. They worked tirelessly to forge connections and create business opportunities between entertainment and technology companies. Rothman’s genius brought about significant advancements, including the development of CASTNET, the first online commercial casting company, and his role as the chief technology officer for Atomic Pop, the first online record label.
More Than Just a Professional
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Lew Rothman was a man of many passions and interests. He was an avid watch collector, a connoisseur of food, and a devoted family man. His love for dogs, particularly his dachshund Bubu and his grand-dog Champ, was unmatched. In his East Hampton home, he found joy in crafting furniture by hand and collaborating with his wife on beautiful sculptures.
A Life Remembered
Lew Rothman is survived by his wife of 33 years, Serina, his daughter Raella, and his sisters Barbara Kreiger and Cheryl Ann Krane. To honor his memory, a celebration of Rothman’s life will be held at The Jewish Center of the Hamptons on January 5 at 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to HIAS or The Art Barge, two organizations close to Rothman’s heart.
