Choi Min-sik, the acclaimed Korean actor known for his roles in “Oldboy” and “Roaring Currents,” will be gracing the screen once again in the upcoming mystery-thriller film “Exhuma.” Scheduled to debut in Korean theaters in February, the movie has already released its first-look images and an electrifying trailer.
In “Exhuma,” Choi portrays an exorcist who inadvertently unleashes supernatural forces beyond anyone’s expectations. The film revolves around a wealthy family living in Los Angeles, who seek the help of two young shamans, played by Kim Go-eun and Lee Do-hyun, to save their newborn child from a series of paranormal events. Sensing the presence of an ancestor’s dark shadow, the shamans discover a “Grave’s Calling” and enlist the assistance of a leading geomancer, portrayed by Choi, and a mortician, played by Yoo Hai-jin. As they attempt to exhume the grave, they unwittingly awaken a malevolent force buried beneath.
Directed by Jang Jae-hyun, known for “Svaha: The Sixth Finger” and “The Priests,” “Exhuma” promises to deliver an enthralling and spine-chilling cinematic experience.
Choi Min-sik is widely regarded as one of the most accomplished actors of his generation. With iconic roles in films such as “Oldboy,” “Shiri,” “I Saw the Devil,” and “Lucy,” Choi’s talent and versatility have captivated audiences worldwide. Moreover, he recently ventured into television, taking on a significant role in the Disney+ crime series “Big Bet” after a hiatus of over two decades.
The supporting cast of “Exhuma” is equally impressive. Kim Go-eun, known for her work in the Netflix series “Little Women” and the series “Guardian” and “Eungyo,” joins the film alongside Yoo Hai-jin, whose credits include “The Night Owl,” “Confidential Assignment 2: International,” and “Space Sweepers.” Lee Do-hyun, known for his roles in “The Good Bad Mother,” the hit series “The Glory,” and “Sweet Home,” completes the talented ensemble.
