Are you ready for a new comic that combines eroticism and horror with influences from the world of pop music? Look no further than the latest creation from Italy’s renowned comic book artist Mirka Andolfo. Titled “Blasfamous,” this captivating story takes place in a world where pop stars have risen to divinity, led by a singer named Clelia, who draws inspiration from none other than Lady Gaga.

Andolfo’s new comic, infused with eros and horror, will be launched on February 21 by the American digital comics imprint Dstlry. Co-founded by former Amazon executives David Steinberger and Chip Mosher, Dstlry aims to bring provocative and groundbreaking comics to a global audience.

Last year, Andolfo received a prestigious Harvey Award for her work on “Sweet Paprika,” a series that has already been optioned for an animated adaptation. She has been collaborating with DC Comics since 2015 and has contributed her artistic talents to popular titles such as “Wonder Woman,” “Harley Quinn,” “DC Bombshells,” and the upcoming “Batman: White Knight Presents – Generation Joker.”

In “Blasfamous,” Andolfo presents a world where pop music stars are worshipped like saints, trading their souls for fame and social media followers. The series delves into the intriguing question: “How many fans is your soul worth?”

Clelia, the reigning queen of pop, finds her throne at risk when a mysterious and charming newcomer threatens her status. To defend her position, Clelia and her demonic agent, Father Lev, resort to extreme measures. Andolfo seamlessly blends her signature manga-inspired erotic style with horror tropes, creating a truly unique and captivating reading experience.

Although “Blasfamous” might seem like a perfect fit for an animated adaptation like “Sweet Paprika,” Andolfo believes that this series is better suited for live-action.

Andolfo’s comics have often been celebrated for their strong female viewpoint. However, she emphasizes that her work transcends gender boundaries. She writes and creates for everyone, irrespective of gender. Andolfo refuses to be pigeonholed and challenges the notion of comics being exclusively for a particular audience.

Don’t miss out on Mirka Andolfo’s daring and visionary comic, “Blasfamous.” Stay tuned for its release on February 21 and prepare to be thrilled and captivated by this unique blend of eroticism, horror, and pop music influences.
