Conrad Palmisano, a renowned Hollywood stuntman, stunt coordinator, and director, bid farewell on January 10th at the age of 75.
A Stuntman Extraordinaire
With over 200 projects under his belt, Palmisano’s stunt credits spanned several decades. From classics like “The Jerk” to modern hits like “21 Jump Street,” he left his mark on a wide range of films. Palmisano’s talent as a stunt coordinator shone through in movies such as “Red Dragon” (2002), “No Strings Attached” (2011), “My Sister’s Keeper,” “Romeo Must Die” (2000), “Sleepless in Seattle” (1993), and “Weekend at Bernie’s” (1989). His mastery extended to television as well, with credits on shows like “Jag,” “Ghost Whisperer,” “Chaos,” “Bosch,” and “NCIS.”
A Life Lived Between “Action” and “Cut”
In a 2021 interview with Variety, Palmisano reflected on his illustrious career, sharing anecdotes alongside fellow stuntmen Bob Herron, Alex Daniels, and Terry Leonard. He described the thrill of performing death-defying stunts and the unique camaraderie among stunt professionals. As he once told Richard Burton, “You fall down a flight of stairs, everyone applauds.” Palmisano also played a vital role in advocating for stunt performers, working towards their recognition at the Oscars. He was a member of the Academy and a SAG-AFTRA board member – stunt and safety.
The Journey of a Legend
Born on May 1, 1948, and raised in the San Fernando Valley, Palmisano’s journey to Hollywood began after serving in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. In recognition of his exceptional contributions, he was honored with a lifetime achievement award at the Taurus World Stunt Awards last year. Palmisano passed away surrounded by family, leaving behind a legacy cherished by three daughters, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Conrad Palmisano’s dedication to his craft and unwavering commitment to the stunt community will forever be remembered. Hollywood mourns the loss of a true legend.
