Tom Cruise is set to return to the danger zone as Paramount announces the development of “Top Gun 3.” According to Puck, Ehren Kruger, co-writer of “Top Gun: Maverick,” will be working on the script for the highly anticipated sequel. Paramount is also hopeful that Joe Kosinski, director of “Top Gun: Maverick,” will once again take the helm for this action-packed blockbuster. The sequel may also see the return of Miles Tiller and Glen Powell, Cruise’s younger co-stars, for more thrilling high-altitude adventures.

The news comes on the heels of Cruise’s recent announcement of a non-exclusive deal with Warner Bros. to develop both franchises and original movies. This agreement allows Cruise to work with other studios like Paramount and Universal, where he is currently involved in a space-themed film set to be shot at the International Space Station. Cruise’s company will also have offices on Warner Bros.’ Burbank lot.

Meanwhile, Paramount Global, the parent company of the studio, has been making headlines with news of a potential sale. Skydance Media, the production company behind “Top Gun: Maverick,” is reportedly considering purchasing National Amusements, the holding company that controls Paramount Global.

“Top Gun: Maverick” was a huge success for Paramount, finally bringing Cruise back in aviators after years of anticipation. The film received critical acclaim and was nominated for an Oscar for Best Picture. It also grossed nearly $1.5 billion, solidifying its position as the most popular film in Cruise’s illustrious career. Cruise continues to lead the “Mission: Impossible” franchise at Paramount, currently working on the eighth installment in the thrilling spy series.
