The 2022 Emmy Awards have come to a close, and one show has captured everyone’s attention. “The Bear” has won the prestigious award for Outstanding Comedy Series, making it a standout in this year’s lineup.
A Toast to “The Bear”
As the audience erupted in cheers and applause, actor and chef Matty Matheson took the stage alongside his co-star Ebon Moss-Bachrach. With excitement brimming, Matheson expressed his gratitude to the culinary industry, exclaiming, “I just want to thank restaurants as a whole, hospitality as a whole… I just love restaurants so much!”
A Journey of Triumph and Togetherness
Reflecting on the show’s theme, Matheson continued, “The good, the bad. It’s rough, we’re all broken inside, and every single day we gotta show up and cook and make people feel good by eating something and sitting at a table. And it’s really beautiful that all of us here get to make a show together. We have the power to make people feel good or filled with anxiety or triggered… it seems.”
Appreciating the collective effort, Matheson extended his gratitude to the entire cast and crew. Acknowledging the challenges they faced, he shared, “It’s hard work. It’s early hours, we don’t see the sun for three months. We shoot on a sound stage. It’s really cool. I’ve never been on one before. I’ve never acted before, I love everyone!”
Records Broken and New Horizons
“The Bear” has etched its name in Emmy history by breaking multiple records. It holds the record for the most wins by a comedy series in its debut season, surpassing “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” which secured eight wins in its freshman year. Additionally, “The Bear” now claims the title for the most wins by any series, dethroning the presidential drama “The West Wing.” This momentous achievement also marks the first-ever Emmy win for the FX network in the comedy category.
A Competitive Field
But the road to victory was not an easy one. “The Bear” faced tough competition from other noteworthy nominees, including “Abbott Elementary,” “Barry,” “Jury Duty,” “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” “Only Murders in the Building,” “Ted Lasso,” and “Wednesday.” While each show brought its own unique charm, it was “The Bear” that emerged victorious.
A Shower of Accolades
“The Bear” received a total of 13 Emmy nominations, a testament to its exceptional quality. Ultimately, the show walked away with an impressive haul of 10 wins, spanning multiple categories such as lead actor (Jeremy Allen White), supporting actor (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), supporting actress (Ayo Edebiri), writing (Christopher Storer for “The System”), directing (Storer for “Review”), casting, picture editing, sound editing, and sound mixing.
With its gripping storytelling, exceptional performances, and well-deserved wins, “The Bear” has established itself as a force to be reckoned with in the comedy realm. Congratulations to the entire team for their incredible achievement!
