West Ham United is keeping a close eye on Joseph Paintsil as they search for a potential replacement for the unsettled Said Benrahma. The 25-year-old Genk winger previously caught the attention of the Hammers during the Europa League two seasons ago and has once again piqued their interest.

Paintsil put on an impressive performance against West Ham, scoring in a 2-2 draw during the group stage. Currently, he is representing Ghana at the Africa Cup of Nations. With a release clause of £7 million, he has also drawn interest from David Beckham’s former MLS team, LA Galaxy. However, Paintsil’s preference lies in securing a move to the Premier League.
While West Ham is keen on acquiring Paintsil, Benrahma’s future at the club remains uncertain. Marseille had made a loan offer, but it was swiftly rejected by the Hammers. It appears that Benrahma has fallen out of favor with manager David Moyes, especially following his red card in the recent embarrassing FA Cup replay defeat against Bristol City. As a result, he will be serving a three-game suspension.
Other clubs interested in Paintsil include Wolves, although West Ham’s pursuit may be given an advantage due to Nottingham Forest’s diminished interest resulting from a recent financial fair play charge.
