Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk were gearing up for a monumental clash to determine the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. However, fate had other plans, and the fight was postponed after Fury suffered a freak cut during a sparring session just two weeks before the scheduled bout.

Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk has been postponed

Discussing his unfortunate injury, Fury expressed his devastation, saying, “I am absolutely devastated after preparing for this fight for so long and being in such superb condition.” He went on to apologize to everyone involved, including Team Usyk, the undercard fighters, partners, fans, and even the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where the event was set to take place.

A statement from Queensbury Promotions, Fury’s promotion company, revealed the extent of his injury, stating, “The cut, which opened above Fury’s right eye, required urgent medical attention and significant stitching, which will obviously require a period of recovery, scuppering any possibility of the fight with Usyk taking place on 17th February in Saudi Arabia.”
