Mauricio Pochettino is one of the worst Chelsea managers in Premier League history

Mauricio Pochettino, the current Chelsea manager, is facing mounting pressure after consecutive losses to Liverpool and Wolves. Despite these challenges, Pochettino’s record is still better than that of Graham Potter, but there’s room for improvement.

Struggling for Consistency

Chelsea’s performance this season has been far from satisfactory, as they currently sit 15 points adrift from the top four position after 23 games played. Pochettino took charge of the team in the summer, hoping to improve their form after finishing 12th in the previous season. However, despite spending over £400 million in the transfer window, the team’s consistency has not improved.

Pochettino’s Record in Numbers

Under Pochettino’s management, Chelsea has recorded just nine wins and four draws, accumulating 31 points in total with an average of 1.35 points per game. This places him as the fourth worst manager in the history of Chelsea in the Premier League, even below Frank Lampard. Lampard, despite managing only one win in his second spell, achieved qualification for the Champions League in the 2020 season, a feat that Pochettino is yet to match.

Even Frank Lampard boasts a better record than Pochettino

Room for Improvement

Graham Potter, who managed Brighton, fared slightly worse, winning seven of his 22 league games in charge and drawing seven, accumulating an average of 1.27 points per game. Only Glenn Hoddle and Ian Porterfield have worse records than Pochettino at Stamford Bridge.

Despite Pochettino’s struggles, fans have expressed their discontent, with some even calling for the appointment of John Terry or Jose Mourinho as the new manager. Thiago Silva’s wife also voiced her frustration on social media, suggesting that it’s time for a change.

Overall, Pochettino has work to do to turn Chelsea’s fortunes around and improve their consistency. With the talent at his disposal and the backing of the club, he has the potential to lead Chelsea to greater success in the future.
