Rapper Killer Mike recently found himself at the center of a dramatic incident during the Grammys. After winning three awards, he was led out in handcuffs and arrested. However, he quickly broke his silence, attributing the incident to an over-zealous security guard’s confusion.

In a statement sent to NBC News, Killer Mike, whose real name is Michael Render, expressed his gratitude for the support he received from fans. He acknowledged that there was some confusion surrounding the entrance he and his team should have used. However, he firmly believes that he will be cleared of any wrongdoing.

“While there was an over-zealous security guard, my team and I have utmost confidence that the truth will prevail,” Killer Mike stated. He encouraged his fans to continue listening to his music and pursuing their dreams.

Killer Mike was booked on suspicion of misdemeanor battery but was subsequently released. He is scheduled to appear in court on February 29. Prior to his arrest, he had just won three prestigious awards at the Grammys: Best rap performance, best rap song, and best rap album for his sixth album, “Michael.” Notably, he is also known as half of the hip-hop duo Run the Jewels.

In addition to expressing his gratitude towards the voting committee for recognizing his work, Killer Mike shared some personal news. He revealed that his son, who had been on a waitlist for a kidney transplant, has finally found a donor match. The news arrived on the day following his Grammys win, bringing immense joy to the family.
