Nevada voters in the state-run Republican primary had a surprising choice: “none of these candidates.” In a stinging rebuke of former U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley, voters chose “none of these candidates” over her, according to NBC News projections. Despite facing no major challenger, Haley suffered her third consecutive loss in an early-state primary contest. However, her campaign remains undeterred, indicating that the results won’t affect her long-term plans. Haley is expected to perform better in the South Carolina primary later this month. House GOP Vows to Revisit Mayorkas Impeachment
House Republicans attempted to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas but fell short in the vote. Speaker Mike Johnson and his right-wing colleagues had blamed the Biden administration for the crisis at the border. The vote ended in a rare 215-215 tie, but GOP Rep. Blake Moore of Utah switched his vote to “no” at the last minute to allow for another vote in the future. The plan is to bring up the issue again when absent Rep. Steve Scalise returns from cancer treatment. Rep. Ken Buck, who voted “no,” stands firm in his decision and won’t be swayed next time. Interested parties have already voiced their concerns about the impeachment.

Next month, her husband, James, will face the same involuntary manslaughter charges.

David Coles, leading an operation to protect ships in the Red Sea against Houthi attacks, describes the environment as “kinetic.” Navy warships like the Mason have traditionally defended against torpedoes and surface-skimming missiles, but they now also face the danger of anti-ship ballistic missiles. Despite the challenges, officers and crew members onboard are well-prepared to react to these attacks. Find out more about their experiences here.
In other news, large-scale U.S. airstrikes against Iranian-backed militants have not halted Iran’s provision of weapons and intelligence to its proxies in the Middle East. Iran’s U.N. ambassador also denied any involvement in the ongoing attacks by Houthi forces in Yemen. Hamas has responded favorably to a draft truce and hostage release deal. Lastly, Trump voters are dismissing the right-wing conspiracy theory linking Taylor Swift’s relationship with Travis Kelce to Democratic election strategies.
