The New Zealand International Film Festival (NZIFF) has appointed Paolo Bertolin, an experienced programmer, as its new artistic director. This follows the recent resignation of more than half of the festival’s programming team. Despite the challenges posed by the global pandemic and the cost-of-living crisis, the NZIFF remains committed to adapting and ensuring the festival’s future success.

A Shift in Leadership

In response to the need for new artistic leadership and vision, the festival has chosen Paolo Bertolin as its artistic director. With an impressive background in international film festivals and institutions, including Cannes’ Directors’ Fortnight, Locarno Open Doors, and IFF Rotterdam, Bertolin brings a wealth of expertise to the role.
