Israeli actress Ayelet Zurer, best known for her role in the hit series “Shtisel,” is set to lead an upcoming Israeli drama called “The Best Worst Thing.” In this new show, Zurer portrays Dr. Amalia Levi, a breast cancer specialist who discovers a suspicious lump in her own chest. As she embarks on her personal journey with breast cancer as a patient, she unexpectedly finds support in Micha Hadad, a male politician who has also recently been diagnosed.

In this heartwarming series, Amalia and Micha navigate their shared treatment journey together, filled with hope and fear. Through their experiences, they realize they have more in common than just their disease. Under the looming presence of a ticking clock, they discover that the worst thing that could happen to them might also be the best thing that has ever happened.

“The Best Worst Thing” is an eight-part drama series that will premiere on Feb 19 in Israel on the local network Keshet 12. The show was created by Rona Tamir, Tal Granit, and Sharon Maymon, and is produced by Spiro Films, known for their work on “When Heroes Fly.” International distribution for the show will be handled by Keshet International.

Keshet Broadcasting’s head of drama and comedy, Karni Ziv, describes the series as an uplifting relationship drama with a powerful message – even in the face of unimaginable difficulties, hope persists. The creators of the show, Rona, Tal, and Sharon, have infused this cancer-centric series with compassion and humor, while Ayelet and Amos bring their characters’ love story to life.

“The Best Worst Thing” is directed by Tal Granit and Sharon Maymon, with Eitan Mansouri and Jonathan Doweck producing for Spiro Films. In addition to her previous roles in films like “Munich” and series like “Shtisel” and “In Treatment,” Zurer is also recognized for her portrayal of Superman’s biological mother in “Man of Steel.” Amos Tamam, the actor playing Micha, is known for his performances in “Downtown Precinct” and “Magpie.”

Keshet International is set to unveil more exciting dramas at the London TV Screenings on Feb. 28. They have recently released critically acclaimed shows like “A Body that Works,” which earned Rotem Sela and Gal Malka best actress awards at last year’s Seriesmania festival, as well as the upcoming Netflix thriller “Trust No One” and the highly-rated Israeli drama “Line in the Sand” Season 2.
