Gun violence rocked Clapham Common in South London when a shooting occurred outside The Bellevue pub on Friday afternoon. The incident left two women injured and triggered a police manhunt for a second suspect.
The Metropolitan Police swiftly responded to the scene after reports of gunshots were heard. It is believed that a shotgun was fired during the incident. The horror unfolded around 5pm and sent shockwaves throughout the community.
Arrest and Charges
Keymarni King, an 18-year-old man, has been arrested and charged in connection with the shooting. He faces multiple charges, including possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and enabling another to do so. Additionally, he has been charged with aggravated vehicle taking and injury caused by an accident. On Monday, King was also charged with two counts of wounding/inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent. He is scheduled to appear before Bromley Magistrates’ Court on March 6.
The charges stem from an incident involving a police pursuit of a moped allegedly being ridden by two individuals who failed to stop in the Clapham area on March 1. The pursuit ended tragically when the moped collided with a pedestrian, causing injuries. During the crash, a firearm was dropped and discharged as it hit the ground.
Ongoing Investigation and Second Suspect
While King has been apprehended, the search for the second suspect is still ongoing. Police are diligently working to trace this individual and bring them to justice.
