According to Dua Lipa, the album draws inspiration from the vibrant energy of her hometown, London, as well as the rawness, honesty, confidence, and freedom of ’90s Britpop. The concept of “Radical Optimism” resonated with her, as it represents gracefully navigating through chaos and feeling capable of weathering any storm. Exploring the rich history of psychedelia, trip hop, and Britpop, Dua Lipa approached her recording sessions with a confidently optimistic and honest attitude.

The album features collaborations with talented artists such as Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker, Caroline Polachek (known for her work with Charli XCX), Danny L. Harle, Tobias Jesso Jr., and Caroline Ailin, who has co-written several of Dua Lipa’s hits.

While little is known about the sound of the new album, Dua Lipa mentioned in an interview with the New York Times that it draws inspiration from 1970s-style psychedelia. However, the released information does not provide clear indications of this influence. Dua Lipa previously mentioned that the album took a different turn as she continued working on it, ensuring that it now sounds cohesive. She described the album as still pop but with a different sonic approach and a stronger lyrical theme. Although the album title remains a mystery, Dua Lipa promises that it will all make sense once it’s revealed.
