Sainsbury’s, one of the UK’s leading supermarket chains, is currently facing a major “technical issue” that has disrupted their online delivery service. This morning, many customers were left frustrated as their online deliveries were abruptly cancelled, and some were even unable to complete their payments at the tills. Sainsbury’s has acknowledged the issue and apologized to affected customers, assuring them that they are working hard to resolve it.

What’s happened?

A technical glitch in Sainsbury’s systems has led to the cancellation of the majority of their online deliveries on Saturday, March 16. This issue has also affected in-store click-and-collect orders, making it difficult for shoppers to retrieve their purchases. Some customers have also reported issues with using their debit or credit cards for payment, as the supermarket has experienced problems with contactless payments following an overnight software update. In fact, some stores have completely halted card payments, forcing customers to abandon their shopping if they didn’t have cash on hand.

What about my online delivery?

Sainsbury’s has confirmed that all their stores are open as usual, accepting chip and pin and cash payments. However, this also means that they are unable to deliver the majority of their online orders for the day. They are currently unable to contact affected customers directly but have assured them that they will be contacted as soon as possible to reschedule their orders. In the meantime, Sainsbury’s advises customers to place new orders on Monday. They have yet to provide information about a potential refund process.

How can I request a refund for my order?

Sainsbury’s has stated that they will personally reach out to all affected customers to discuss rearranging their deliveries. However, if you haven’t heard from them within the next 24 hours, it is recommended that you take the initiative and contact them directly.
