TelevisaUnivision’s streaming platform ViX is set to launch six new original shows in the first quarter of the year. One of the highlights of their upcoming lineup is a comedy feature in collaboration with Spain’s The Mediapro Studio.
A Diverse Range of Content
“From hilarious comedies to impactful reality shows and docuseries, the new ViX Originals exhibits the diversity of genres and storytelling that can only be found on ViX,” shared Rodrigo Mazon, the executive VP & chief content officer for ViX at TelevisaUnivision.
ViX aims to cater to a wide range of audiences with its content offerings. Mazon emphasized that ViX strives to consistently maintain a high standard of quality through collaborations with the best content creators in the industry.
Strong Performance and Growth
According to TelevisaUnivision’s 2023 4th Quarter report, ViX ended the year with more than 7 million subscribers and generated over $700 million in revenue. The Spanish-language streaming service has been performing well, despite facing competitive headwinds and rising production costs.
New Originals Revealed
This year, ViX will be launching six exciting new original shows. Here’s a sneak peek at some of them:
Movies:
“Intecambiadas” – This body-swapping comedy follows the story of nine-year-old Sebastian, who, after a fight with his mother, wishes that the maid Lupe was his mother instead. His wish comes true, leading to a series of challenges and life lessons for both women. The film is produced by The Mediapro Studio and features Silvia Navarro, Michelle Rodríguez, and Kaled Acab.
“Mi casa no es tu casa” – Andres and Mia’s relationship seems perfect, except that Mia has two young sons who don’t approve of her boyfriend. When Andres moves in, the boys go to great lengths to get rid of him. This romantic comedy is a production of Nectar Films, Marvista, and Cimarron. The cast includes Ana Claudia Talancón, David Chocarro, Andrés Almeida, Tato Alexander, Checo Perezcuadra, and Juanpi Monterrubio.
Reality Shows:
“Chiquis Unfiltered” – This revealing docuseries follows the life of musical artist Chiquis. From her home in Los Angeles to her tours in the United States and Mexico, viewers will witness her unfiltered journey, including personal struggles, family dynamics, and career milestones. The series is produced by JK Media Group and Busy Bee Productions.
“Mi Mundo” – This series offers a rare behind-the-scenes look into regional Mexican music, a genre that dominates global charts and bridges cultures across the U.S.-Mexico border. Viewers will get to explore the lives, creative processes, and careers of key figures who shape history and expand into fresh markets. The show is produced by Alton River and Plataforma and features guest appearances from Banda MS, Eslabón Armado, Angela Aguilar, and more.
Documentaries:
“Laura Bozzo: From Hell to Stardom” – This ViX Original documentary provides exclusive access to the controversial TV host Laura Bozzo’s private life. With intimate moments, archival footage, and insights into her relationships and ties to power and fame, this production offers a revealing glimpse into Bozzo’s journey. The documentary is produced by Trailer Films.
“Toros Neza” – This sports docuseries follows Toros Neza, a Mexican soccer team from the ’90s known for their cheeky and rebellious style. Despite never clinching a title, they won the nation’s affection with their unconventional attire and rainbow hair. The series captures their enduring legacy, featuring legends like Miguel “Piojo” Herrera, Rodrigo “Pony” Ruiz, Enrique “Ojitos” Meza, Nidelson Silva de Melo, and Federico Lussenhoff. The series is produced by The Lift and features guest appearances from Alex Aguinaga, Ramón Ramírez, Braulio Luna, Tilón Chávez, Diego Latorre, and Arturo Brizio.
