THE Chase favourite Anne Hegerty is swapping the daytime quiz show for the big screen.
Known as The Governess, Anne’s popularity soared on the show, seeing her land a spot on I’m A Celebrity in 2018.
But now she’s got her sights set on new projects and announced that she has been cast in a short film.
She told Daily Star: “I’ve been asked to be in the film and I’ve decided to go for it. We’re going to be making that in the next few months”.
“I don’t think I’ll be nervous. It’s not in front of an audience. If it was, I’d be thinking, ‘Oh my God am I going to forget my lines?’ But because there won’t be an audience watching, I’m not worried.”
She’s remained tight-lipped about any more details on her project.
But thankfully for Anne’s fans, her movie role doesn’t mean she’ll be stepping down from The Chase.
The quizzer who has been on the show since 2010 said: “I don’t have any plans to retire. [The Chase is] the little workhorse that makes everything else possible, and I love doing it.
“It’s the best job I’ve ever had, so I’m happy to keep going as long as they want me for.”
Anne recently revealed how she was “told off” by producers after she was nearly poached by rival game show.
She admitted wanting to take up the offer to go on the BBC’s Celebrity Mastermind, but ITV bosses weren’t happy about the opportunity and didn’t let her pursue it.
When asked if there were any other TV shows she’d like to appear on, Anne revealed: “The trouble is I’m not allowed to do any other [shows].
“I mean, I got tapped up for Celebrity Mastermind a few years ago, but the producer said, ‘absolutely not, we’re not letting you do it'”.
Even though Anne never made it to Celebrity Mastermind, she did star as a contestant on the 2018 series of ITV’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!.
She joined former footy manager Harry Redknapp, who won, and Emily Atack in the jungle.
Anne, who was diagnosed with autism when she was 45, also revealed some show secrets.
When she was asked who decides the figure that the contestants can be offered, she told Metro: “I’m probably not supposed to tell you, so I’m telling you, it’s actually the producers.
“The message gets passed down to the floor, and that’s how we know what the offer is. We don’t make it up ourselves, but we have to pretend that we did!”.
She also spilled the beans on being approached to take part in this year’s Dancing on Ice.
However, after discovering it would clash with her pre-existing panto commitment, she said no.
Speaking to The Mirror, she explained: “I did have a try-out for Dancing on Ice because I would love to learn to ice skate.
“It was then discovered it was going to clash with panto, and the experience of being on a stage, working with an audience, getting to act and sing and be funny… I really valued that.
“I mean, I would just be one of those people who would be towed around behind a penguin and never actually let go. It would be quite sad.”
